Hiroshima City Manga Library
The Hiroshima City Manga Library was built to give visitors a place to enjoy manga while learning about its history. It is home to roughly 130,000 manga comic books and resources about them, all of which have been collected, ordered, and preserved for perusal.
Visitors can read classic manga titles and manga magazines, as well as find resources for research about manga, or check them out to read at home. They also hold events such as manga exhibits and lectures to promote manga culture.
The library has also served as a venue for the Best Manga of the Year Contest since 1998, a contest held yearly and open to anyone to enter, be they professionals or amateurs. Located in scenic Hijiyama Park, every spring the museum is surrounded by beautiful cherry blossoms.
