福屋百貨店(八丁堀本店)
  • Fukuya Department Store

Fukuya Department Store is an eight story department store with two basement floors. At the time of completion, it was one of the few buildings equipped with central air and heat, drawing huge crowds of customers.

At the time of the bombing, the interior was completely lost to the blast winds and concentrated heat rays, leaving only the shell of the exterior.

The building was used as a temporary medical station after the bombing, and then underwent countless renovations to become the modern department store building that you see before you today.
