Camphor Tree (Hijiyama Park)
The camphor tree along the side of the road in Hijiyama Park was exposed to the bombing 1,950 meters from the hypocenter. You can see the effects of the bombing on the side of the trunk that faces the hypocenter. This tree has been here since before the war and, according to hibakusha sources, it was still standing when they evacuated the city.
