  • Japanese Black Pine, Ginkgo Tree, and Camphor Tree (Tsuruhane Shrine)

Inside the temple grounds of the Tsuruhane Shrine, 1,810 meters from the hypocenter, are three hibaku trees: a Japanese black pine, ginkgo, and camphor trees. The 12-meter tall black pine has a trunk circumference of 2.30 meters and is exquisitely pruned and maintained in all of its beauty. The ginkgo tree (female) behind the shrine pavilion on the righthand side is 18 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 2.67 meters. In the fall, the ginkgo tree turns a brilliant golden color. Finally, the camphor tree stands at 6.5 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 1.80 meters. It was moved to its current location during temple reconstruction.
