ソメイヨシノ(頼山陽文徳殿玄関前)(被爆樹木)
  • Yoshino Cherry (Sanyo Buntokuden)

In front of the Sanyō Buntoku-den Memorial Hall are Somei-Yoshino cherry trees that were exposed to the bombing 1,800 meters away from the hypocenter. While they survived in the same place as they were at the bombing, their trunks lean heavily in the direction of the hypocenter and they are in poor health.

The Sanyō Buntoku-den Memorial Hall was built in 1934 to commemorate late-Edo period historian Rai Sanyō. In the past, it has been used as a branch office of Hiroshima City Hall, as well as a library and other social and educational facilities.
