ナツミカン(光明院)(被爆樹木)
  • Japanese Summer Orange Tree (Komyoin Temple)

Each year, this summer orange tree bears sour fruits in the Kōmyō-in Temple complex. Exposed to the bombing 1,700 meters away from the hypocenter, the tree now stands at an impressive 5.8 meters and has a trunk circumference of 0.85 meters. The tree used to be on the embankment of the Sanyō railway line, however, it was replanted in its current location after the war.
