クロマツ・イチョウなど(縮景園内)(被爆樹木)
  • Japanese Black Pine, Ginkgo Tree, and Muku Tree (Shukkeien Garden)

Inside Shukkeien Garden, located 1,370 meters from the hypocenter, you can find Japanese black pine, ginkgo, and muku trees. Even though coniferous trees are thought to be more vulnerable to radiation, this pine is a rare exception and stands at 25 meters in height and with a trunk circumference of 2.40 meters.

The ginkgo tree, 21 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 3.50 meters, leans severely and one-third of its trunk is also covered in raised scars as a result of the bombing, but continues to produce new buds.

The trunk of the muku tree is hollow, but the tree continues to thrive at a height of 11 meters and a trunk circumference of 2.00 meters.
