  • Chinese Parasol Tree (Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park)

The Chinese parasol trees, which stand northeast of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum at heights of 8 and 7.5 meters, respectively, were exposed to the bombing 1,300 meters away from the hypocenter in the courtyard of the Communications Bureau. They were replanted in their current location in 1973. Second-generation saplings from these trees have been planted around the world as messengers of peace.
