• Ginkgo Tree (Hosenbo Temple)

Standing in front of the main gate of Hōsenbō Temple, this ginkgo tree was exposed to the bombing at a distance of 1,120 meters from the hypocenter. Estimated to be over 100 years old, but continues to thrive today despite the large scar down the trunk. It is said that the large tree saved the main temple hall, which collapsed in the bombing, from falling victim to the fires that ensued.
