  • Camphor Tree (Municipal Motomachi High-Rise Apartment)

In the parking lot located southwest of the Hiroshima Municipal Housing, you will find a great camphor tree. The tree has been alive for nearly as long as Hiroshima has been recognized as a city, and is a giant, standing 12 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 4.7 meters. You can still see the marks from the fires caused by the bombing on the northeast side of the trunk.
