Kurogane Holly (Kinryuji Temple)
Kinryū-ji Temple is home to two kurogane holly trees that were exposed to the bombing at a distance of 940 meters from the hypocenter. Built in 1632, the temple was completely lost to fires in the bombing and was rebuilt years later. The trees were damaged in the bombing, but managed to survive, and today, they continue to grow in their original location. As a result of the bombing, their trunks lean in the direction of the hypocenter.
