  • Ninoshima Island

Located to the south of Hiroshima Port, Ninoshima is a gorgeous island full of rich natural beauty. In the Maiji Era, it served as a military quarantine station for soldiers returning from abroad. The island itself received little to no damage in the bombing and the quarantine station served as a temporary hospital, housing 10,000 or so victims from August 6 to August 26. However, ill equipped to handle the large volume of patients, the station quickly ran out of supplies and many of the victims perished.
